Finance & Data Manager
❄️ We’re currently on a winter break, and enjoying one too many mince pies. If you're applying now, we'll be in touch in January. We can't wait to read your application.
Hello, we’re Honest. 👋
The clue’s in the name: we’re the network doing mobile right.
We’re on a mission to set a bold new standard for mobile (and drag a broken industry into the future while we're at it).
It started with Classic SIM, our essential everyday SIM that includes bills that drop, support in seconds, and a shrinking carbon footprint.
Thousands of happy customers joined us. But we knew people still faced two big problems: rubbish signal and expensive roaming.
So we built Smart SIM, our game-changing back-up eSIM giving you unbeatable signal and free global roaming. Whenever you lose signal or go abroad, you can switch to Smart SIM in just a few taps for 500+ essential apps on EE, O2, Three and Vodafone, plus hundreds of networks worldwide.
Now we're proud to have more than 63,000 customers on our journey.
We’re also the UK’s first B Corp mobile network, a carbon-negative company and member of 1% for the Planet 🌎
But building the world’s best mobile network requires having the right people to help us do it. That’s where you could come in.
Like the sound of Honest? Read on. This could be the start of something exciting 🚀
👀 Role overview
We’re looking for a detail-orientated Finance & Data Manager to take ownership of two critical areas of the business: financial operations and company-wide data.
In this role you’ll be responsible for building the financial and data foundations that support Honest’s next stage of growth. You’ll play a pivotal role in helping us become truly data-led, ensuring the business has the clarity, reporting and insights needed to move faster and make better decisions.
From cash flow management and budgeting to SQL-driven analytics and data-led experimentation across product, tech and marketing, you’ll help shape how we understand the business, how we spend, and how we grow. You’ll also own the financial side of billing, including bad debt and revenue recognition, and improve governance and segregation of duties as we scale.
Reporting into the Co-founder and CEO, who is a Chartered Accountant and currently runs finance, this is an exciting opportunity to work closely with, and become a key right-hand person to our Founders.
🗝️ Key responsibilities
Own our Operational and Finance reporting. Delivering clear, data-led insights to the Board, Product and Senior Leadership
Enable data-led decision-making across the business by running experiments to inform strategy, our priorities and partner with Tech to build robust data tracking and flows
Lead end-to-end financial management, including cash flow, revenue and cost assurance, subscriptions, ROI analysis and spend optimisation
Build, automate and operate scalable finance processes, including fast month-end close and lightweight reporting
Own all core finance operations: payments, treasury, payroll (with the Head of People), expenses, compliance, international sales taxes, revenue assurance, cost assurance and HMRC interactions
Strengthen financial governance and controls, including budgeting, forecasting, billing, revenue recognition, bad debt management and oversight of third-party (R&D advisors & lawyers) suppliers
🤩 About you
You might bring deep financial operations experience and be comfortable owning everything end-to-end. You might have trained at a top-tier accounting firm and now be looking for a role with real impact and ownership. Or you might come from a less traditional background and have your own way of demonstrating strong accounting and data skills.
If the idea of building our finance and data operations from the ground up excites you, we’d love to hear from you.
You’re a qualified accountant
You’re a natural numbers person: analytical, detail-oriented and comfortable diving deep into the depths of any given figure
You’re excited about building a data-led culture and enabling fast, informed decision-making across the business
You have strong SQL capability, or a willingness to learn, to manage reporting and unlock deeper insights
You're comfortable with consumer SaaS unit economics like CAC, LTV and Payback periods
You’re proactive and decisive, with a knack for spotting issues early like unexpected supplier charges or finding out why a product margin has shifted
You’re organised and methodical, with a high bar for accuracy, process and documentation
You can collaborate and communicate well l with key stakeholders across each function
You’re motivated by impact, ownership and helping shape the financial maturity of a growing company
You’re comfortable balancing both strategic and hands-on work, and you’re excited by the opportunity to grow into senior finance leadership
